The Challenge
Four-metre wall heights and thirty-three tonnes of hempcrete presented significant complexity for an owner-builder project. Traditional full cast methods would require extensive formwork, larger crews working at height, and physically demanding conditions.

Our Approach
The Cast & Block method combined external hempcrete blocks with internal casting, requiring formwork on only one side. This reduced crew size, minimized work at height, and cut on-site wet mix volume by approximately one third while improving thermal performance.

The Outcome
The finished home achieves professional-level quality with a continuous thermal envelope and clean detailing. The hybrid approach enabled earlier lock-up, reduced physical demands, and stayed within owner-builder budget—proving that ambitious hempcrete projects don't require an all-or-nothing approach.
